Giving to PSCS

In order to keep tuition as low as possible it is necessary for PSCS to promote a variety of fundraising activities each year.  Supporters of PSCS will receive notice of fundraising activities in the form of announcements, invitations, or solicitation letters.  Families will need to decide for themselves what is a comfortable level of giving and participate accordingly.  Remember that contributions to PSCS are tax-deductible to the extent permissible by law.

Quickest Ways to Help PSCS

  • Donate online now using our secure donation page.
  • Register your grocery loyalty cards and credit/debit cards at eScrip, designating PSCS as your school.  A portion of your purchases at many well-known shops will be automatically donated by the merchant!
  • Go out to dinner one less time per month and donate what you would have spent to PSCS.
  • Pull out your checkbook and mail in a donation!

Things You Can Buy to Help PSCS

  • Buy a rechargeable PCC Scrip card or key tag if you shop at Puget Consumers Coop; it's like buying a gift certificate for yourself, and PCC will donate 5% back to PSCS! And every time you recharge your card or key tag at any PCC store PSCS automatically earns 5% of the amount applied to your card or tag. For more information about this program, contact Neal. Or, buy your scrip card or key tag directly from the PSCS office.
  • Or, if you shop at QFC and Fred Meyer, we have "gift cards" for those stores too! When you purchase these cards through us, QFC/Fred Meyer will donate 5% of the price back to PSCS. Buy the cards directly from the PSCS offfice or contact Neal for more info.
  • If you plan to order from Amazon.com, use our page for recommendations already linked to the PSCS associate bookstore.
  • Order some clothing or other PSCS merchandise from CafePress!
  • Get this year's Chinook Book, filled with coupons for environmentally and socially responsible products and services. Contact Neal for more information.

Collect These Things to Help PSCS

  • Donate your used books, videos, CDs, and other items that can be sold on Amazon.com or via our eBay Charity Auctions.  (Before you bring these in, please check on Amazon and eBay to see that what you're donating is selling for more than a couple of dollars.  Thanks!)
  • Cut General Mills Box Tops for Education logos from participating General Mills products and bring them in to the school.  We can redeem them for cash!
  • Used cell phones, ink jet cartridges, and laser toner cartridges can be collected and we will return them to Green Office Recycling for $1 each.  Better yet, collect them where you work if they just get trashed!

Projects That PSCS Community Members Can Coordinate

  • Dessert auction, bake sale, car wash, or other large-group event.  PSCS has done well with these kinds of events in the past.  Do whatever kind of event floats your boat!
  • Your own fundraising party!  From a Tom Waits party to a barbecue to a murder mystery party, a game night or an Academy Awards or Final Four viewing party, just set up a smaller gathering and call it a "benefit".  When you invite folks, ask them to bring something for the donation box when they come.  Raise funds for the school and have fun at the same time!

Ongoing Coordination

  • Services Fundraiser.  Encourage people to offer or request services, and try to match buyers with sellers.
  • Online Fundraising.  Become the coordinator of the Amazon and/or eBay sales, the Cafe Press shop, or some other online fundraising project.
  • Collections Fundraising.  Are you willing to check on how many receipts, cell phones, or boxtops have been collected and left at the drop-off points, then send them in when enough accumulate?  If so, volunteer for collections fundraising coordinator!
  • Micro-business.  Willing to start a micro-business and dedicate a percentage of the funds to PSCS?  Whether it's selling hand-made crafts, food, art, or doing services like petsitting, yardwork, helping people move, or painting, a small ongoing trickle of donations will add up over time!
